Gifts from Angels…

I’ve been blessed with a wonderful mother. We all know that by now. Even better is when I am blessed by my mother’s friends. There is this friend of Mom’s that I don’t know anything about. Well, I know what Mom has told me. I know she reads my blog, and I know she will hopefully read this one.

You see, Mom is a good judge of character. My best assumption is that this lady is kind, passionate, intelligent, friendly, sincere, and beautiful inside and out. I haven’t met her, but maybe one day will be lucky enough.

This friend sent my Mom some really wonderful books just recently. One of which was intended for me. It’s title reads “Cooks Quotations: A collection of fine paintings and the best cooking quotes”. It’s a cute little book. I’ve thumbed through it already, and I have found some of the most beautiful quotes. They are quotes that warm the soul, spark the mind, and inspire the cooking juices.

I want to thank her from the bottom of my warm peach cobbler heart…sweet, warm, gooey, and crusty all at the same time. *smiles* I appreciate your touching gift and will cherish it always.

I am going to try my best to post one quote a day through Facebook and Twitter from this gem of a book. You can follow The Onyx Plate on both – obviously, or I wouldn’t be updating it, now would I? *smiles*

To get us started…

“The qualities of an exceptional cook are akin to those of a successful tightrope walker: an abiding passion for the task, courage to go out on a limb and an impeccable sense of balance.” ~Bryan Miller

    1. It is a great little book! Enjoying the warm weather? Did you enjoy it when you were here? ;) Are you rubbing in your cool weather AND Tillamook cheese in the stores there??? If you tell me you’ve had their ice cream, then I might be slightly upset. Hehe….. :) A dream to yet be realized of mine. But, yes, you do have one up on me with the cheese. Grrrrr…. :)
