About The Onyx Plate

We all have it in us…the ability to create.  Whether you are creating presentations for work, a centerpiece for a party you are hosting at your home, a vacation itinerary, or crafts with your children or grandchildren.  We all have it in us.  I choose to create in the kitchen.  I gain inspiration for that creating from random people and places, and my goal in life is to pass that inspiration on to you.

I’m on a mission to cook wonderful food (aren’t we all) that first has to look beautiful plated.  In many of the posts, you will find comfort classics, southern cuisine, easy weekend lunches, seasonal vegetables and fruit being used, and most recipes will be quite simple.  By the way…not all Southern Food is fried!

Currently, the blog is in Keto Mode (with the presence of some non-keto favorites), and my husband and I are using this as just one of our ways to keep us motivated and held accountable.  Needless to say, we’re on a fun journey and happy to share it with you!

Make sure to follow me everywhere I go on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.  You know you want to!  Much love!

  1. My darling Jennifer, may your kitchen be warmed with love, spiced with sass, and a refuge from the world to play in. Thank you for sharing your love of food, your wonderful ability to create, and that tiny bit of yourself that you put in each of your creations. All my love and best wishes for a bountiful blog!

  2. I love that you have done different courses and not just the main course. I love that you use different ingredients. Some of mine and my wife’s favorite ingredients that you use are Adobo and Cilantro. Keep up the great work! Also, if it is ok with you, I think I will tell my friends and family about this site of yours so they can be inspired also.

    1. Thanks Zack! We love Cilantro, and I would love to find an indoor Cilantro plant right now. Unforunately, I am afraid that we are out of season to find one. Yes, please share. The more inspired, the more happy tummys there are!

VERY inspiring, thank you!!!! It all started (for me) with your photos/article about the Nutella-day: Being from Germany I was brought up with Nutella for breakfast – good memories!! Melting on toast… Delicious!

    1. Thank you! :) I upload all of the pictures I want to use, and then type in [slideshow], and it filters through them all for that particular post. One of the few things I actually know how to do on here. :)
